Isaiah 43:16-21
It is time to consider something new; old ways are over.
Philippians 3:8-14
We can forget what lies behind us and focus on what lies ahead of us.
John 8:1-11
Jesus saves a woman from being stoned to death.

| This Week... |
| The old law said that some sins were so bad, the sinner ought to be stoned to death. Jesus had a new law to teach us-a law of compassion and forgiveness. We all are sinners, and we need to help one another rather than destroy one another. We can hate the sin, but we need to love the sinner. It is never too late for us to learn a new way. This new way saved a woman's life. |

| For Your Reflection |
Have you ever been caught doing something you knew was wrong? What happened?
Have you ever done something with a friend of yours, and your friend got away with it, but you didn't? How did you feel? Did you want your friend to get into trouble as well? Or were you thankful that at least both of you didn't get caught?
What sins, mistakes, or faults from the past would you like to forget? What stops you from letting go of them and moving on? What new ways or new habits would you like to be yours from now on?
Jesus stopped a mob of men from stoning a woman to death. They could easily have turned on him, but they did not. Why do mobs want to commit acts of violence? Why do you think violence has become such a major part of the entertainment business, such as movies, video games, and so forth? What is fun about violence? |
