A powerful earthquake hit the nation of Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 resulting in massive loss of life and total chaos on the island. The capital city of Port Au Prince was particularly hard hit, with few buildings left undamaged.
30 days later, the Haitian government estimates 230,000 lives lost and 1,000,000 homeless.
We know that catastrophes happen. We don’t understand them, but we know they happen. And, as people of faith, we know that God is at work in the midst of them.
As people of faith, we know that God calls us to stand in solidarity with those among us who are suffering the most. Today, the “least of these” must surely be the people of Haiti.
Let us pray and act together on behalf of God’s people and the Church of Haiti.
Please use these resources and share them with friends, family, youth groups and campus ministries.
