I once saw a picture of John Paul II kissing the Koran. Why did he do this? |

Pope John Paul II (and, I feel sure, his successor) has respect for all faith traditions, including Islam. The Koran (Quran) is the holy book of Islam. He kissed it to show his respect. The Quran, I'm told, honors Jesus and Mary and mirrors many teachings of the Bible. We would probably do well to open it ourselves and understand better why the pope honored it. He probably read it as well! |
