I know that there's nothing wrong with reading it, but how come so many Catholics don't read the King James Bible but Protestants do? |

Many Protestants don’t read the King James version (also known as the Authorized Version) either! While the language is often very poetic (no translation of the 23rd Psalm can, in my opinion, hold a candle to the King James) it is so archaic that much of it is not easily understood by most people today. We just don’t talk in thees and thous and driveths and comeths and thines and commandeths and anons and so on. Most of us prefer to read the Sacred Word in words we can understand. The idea that God somehow ordained this particular translation with its time bound language is, frankly, misinformed. |
