Marian Prayer

Q My mom said May is month of Mary. What is that and What we suppose to do?
- Daniel

A

May is a month in which Mary is traditionally honored by processions and crownings of her image. It isn't at the core of Catholic belief nor or you under any obligation to observe this.

This is not say that honoring Mary isn't part of Catholic life. I just want you to see this in context. For a while now, the May Marian traditions seemed to fade away. Now they are returning. Catholics are known for honoring Mary--because she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus. That is her claim to fame. May is one month in which this is highlighted. Actually, October is as well. In that month, praying the Rosary is a prominent part of the picture.
