Put an "t" in that word: Meditate. Mediate is another whole matter!
After Communion, it's important to welcome Jesus into your self. That's why this time of silence/meditation is encouraged. I love the story of the little kid who told his ABC's to Jesus after his first communion. You just want to dwell on the things that are important to you and to your relationship with Jesus. Since he loves you so, everything that pops into your head is of some interest to him, so "unload," express your gratitude and affection and reverence, imagine yourself being held by God, filled with God, surrounded by God. By then, the time of silence will be over--and you will have meditated. |
