Kissing

Q I have my first boyfriend. We have been dating since Feb. 2005 and are both going to be high school juniors. He and I are both Catholic. I know about purity and waiting to have sex until marriage. What I need to know more about is kissing. My boyfriend asked me if it was okay for him to kiss me. I said it was okay; but when i thought about it more I didn't know if it was or not. He has kissed me on the cheek and quickly on the lips before. We have not frenched kssed or anything like that and we don't intend to. I was wondering is it a sin that we kiss on the cheek or quickly on the lips? Help. I don't want to commit a sin or harm relationships with future people.

I love your signature--clueless kisser! And I want to offer you reassurance in your relationship with this fine young man. You're on a good path. It is so very healthy and grace-filled that you are dating a young man with whom you talk before you act.

Keep up that pattern! Experience in this arena does indicate that "one thing leads to another." It's good to be sparing in this kissing world! The more you kiss, the more you want to kiss and to be more intimate in your kissing. YOur current practice seems to be very much what is appropriate to people your age--and I applaud you. Just don't get too carried away. Keep up the talking. When you get into an area where you aren't comfortable talking, then that's your conscience telling you not to be comfortable DOING either!
