I don't want to sound smart-alecky, but you'll have to look it up! Many editions of the Bible (I'm sure some sources online) will have glossaries that can tell you where to find passages referencing these topics. If you've had trouble looking up these subjects, you have to remember that the Bible used different "lingo." In my edition of the New American Bible, I didn't find the words you mentioned in my own glossary! So I went to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and looked up marriage. When I did, I found many footnotes referencing Scripture passages (Old and New Testaments) that the Catechism was relying on in explaining Church teaching regarding marriage. (See #1601-1620 especially.) I would consider that wives and husbands isn't really a separate category, but a "subset" under the heading of marriage.
Regarding family, I looked up the fourth commandment in the Catechism as well. That would begin with #2197 and continue to #2232. Again, many Scripture passages are cited in the footnotes--enough to keep you going for a long, long time, I would think! |
