Adoration

Q A friend once asked me why Adoration was so special. She asked "Isn't it the same as praising Jesus any other time?" While I realize Jesus is actually in the room, she made a point. Shouldn't we always adore Christ? What's the difference and how do I explain it?

A

I assume that you are speaking of Adoration of the Lord in the Holy Eucharist …

Your friend is absolutely right – we should adore Jesus always and everywhere.  In Eucharistic Adoration we have an opportunity to focus our adoration on the Lord Jesus present in a most special way in the Host.  As human beings it is easier to adore when we have a concrete focus for that adoration.
