Dear Simply Interested,
The Catholic Church does not believe in re-incarnation. Each human being is a unique creation of a loving God. However, we are imperfect creatures who are constantly and continually in need of purification. This process begins when we are born and it continues until we are happy with God in heaven for eternity. Purgatory is not a "second chance" but the last step before heaven in that process of purification. |
