Dear Brandon,

Adam and Eve represent all of humanity which was the crowning achievement of God's creative power.  Since the Hebrew people were a patriarchal society, the male would naturally come first, followed by woman (a word that literally means, "from man).  Current thought and theology would see this wonderful creation - man and woman - as two equal halves that represent the beautiful mystery of male and female humanity.
