Jesus God and Man

Q In accordance to the Trinity: If God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all the same person then how come in many instances does Jesus pray to the Father? For I would not pray to myself saying Father Father why have you forsaken me.

A

Dear Kumiko,

This is the human Jesus asking God for strength and help--and also showing us other humans how to do so. The particular example you offer is a quotation from Holy Scripture and is actually a psalm translated, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" but ends on a note of triumph and deliverance. Jesus may have been pointing to the end, when citing the beginning.
