When we go to confession for church school there is a list of possible sins you may have committed. On that list it says that passionate kisses are a sin. Is that really a sin and if so why? |

The Church calls us to a healthy understanding of chastity and chastity teaches us how to build friendships. One of those friendships may later develop into an intimate and committed relationship. If kissing is a sign of friendship and care for another person, then it is innocent, healthy and holy. If kissing is only the first step in a series of actions that are more lustful than chaste then kissing has the potential to lead to deeper and inappropriate forms of pre-marital sexual activity. Then it is dangerous and possibly sinful. |
