| Married Priests |

| Q |
Why can priests not be married? Many other faiths have married priests/ministers, and that does not seem to keep the priests/ministers from doing their jobs well? |

| A |
Roman Catholic priests are not married because their celibacy is a sign of faith in God. Celibate priests believe that they can freely sacrifice the joys of marriage and sex on earth as a sign that God will be a faithful God who rewards all sacrifices. It is not merely a matter of efficiency or being more effective. They are celibate for the kingdom of God, not as a way of being more efficient. |
