The word "disciple" and the word "apostle" often refer to the same group of people but the two words are not exactly the same. The number of disciples is usually considered to be seventy or seventy-two. The 12 apostles were chosen from among the disciples and their names are listed in Scripture. Any good Catholic reference book, the Catholic Encyclopedia or the website, www.newadvent.org/cathen/05029.htm will give you plenty of information about the disciples and the apostles.
