Usually, when we think of lust, we think of obsessive and excessive thoughts and desires for sexual pleasure. But lust can apply to the obsessive and excessive thoughts for anything such as money, power, material possessions, alcohol, drugs, ect. Lust can hurt our relationship with God because we are focusing on the object/objects of our lust and not on God. We should not confuse lust with love. They are two totally different things. Love requires self-less giving that is unconditional. Lust uses a person or an object to fulfill selfish desires. |
