Marriage

Q I know that the intent of sex between a man and wife is to have children and also to bond but what if after marriage a couple decides that they cannot afford children does this mean they cannot have sex?

A

You'll know before you get married. Hardly anybody can really "afford" to have children!! If a couple really, really, really can't, then it's not the right time to get married. If a couple experiences financial reverses after marriage and it seems irresponsible to bring a child into the world, this doesn't mean no sex ever. It means that it would wise to avoid the woman's most fertile times.

I wish you a life of prosperity and the opportunity to have many children to love and nurture. But if the cupboards are bare, it would be good to get counseling from a priest or a group called NFP, Natural Family Planning. Your diocesan offices would be able to put a couple in touch, I think. The Internet's always a good resource in such cases, too.
