666

Q Your answer about the "beast's number" isn't complete/correct. You'd have to take things in the context of when it was written. What was happening when Revelations was written? The book of Revelations was highly symbolic and referred to things that pertained to people at that time, but not obviously to people 2000 years later. The number 666 was referring to the evil doer of their time, who was Nero. Symbols are throughout the book, take a closer look.

I can’t disagree with what you have written. There certainly is more information available on this topic. Many scholars do believe that 666 does indeed refer to a particular person of that time (most scholars believe that the identity of that person is indeed Nero).  And the Book of Revelation is most certainly filled with symbolism.  To fail to recognize that and to attempt to take the book literally is to completely miss the point.  The bottom line of this very cryptic book is that no matter what evil Christians have to endure Jesus has already won the victory and in the end we shall share in that glorious victory.  The Book of Revelation was written to give hope to those undergoing persecution.
