Definition: Easter Sunday
Also called the Great Sunday, it is the highest of Church feasts and oldest Christian festival.
It begins with the Easter Vigil when the Church pauses to watch. In darkness after sunset on Holy Saturday, a fire is lit. The Paschal candle is lit from the new fire and carried to the midst of the assembly, where the story of who we are and who we are becoming is retold. The story of Jesus' life, death and resurrection is the focus. New members join the Church and we renew baptismal promises. It is a time of joyful celebration as Alleluias and Glorias are sung for the first time in six weeks.

is
real?
