The sacraments are not traditional rituals that are disconnected from our actual daily lives. Rather, the sacraments reflect a process that must continually take place in our everyday existence. What is shown in the sacraments is an ongoing reality in life. It is not only at the Eucharistic celebration that we share the Body of Christ, for Christ feeds us with his presence every moment.
In the sacraments, the great community prayers of the Church, God reaches out to us in living signs that we can understand. As God's people, we join our hearts and minds together to praise and thank and petition our God. Our community prayer gives us hope that we can be the living Body of Christ that brings acceptance, forgiveness, healing, and challenge to our world.
