Sacraments are both a celebration (an event) and a process (the continuation of a relationship).
More than a Church-designed ceremony performed in order to feel religious, sacraments, when received in faith, are real meetings with Jesus Christ. In these encounters, Jesus does the same thing with us as he did with people 2000 years ago: he blesses us with water and oil, feeds us, supports us and promises that he is with us always.
