Definition: Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

This phrase refers to the graces which the presider asks the Holy Spirit to bestow upon the confirmandi during the Sacrament of Confirmation.

These "gifts" are:

wisdom,
understanding,
right judgement,
courage,
knowledge,
reverence
wonder and awe in God's presence

The number seven is itself a symbol of completeness, of boldness and of abundance.
